GOAL OF THE PROJECT

The objective of the project, realized with the contribution of the Veneto Region through the POR FESR tool, was to go to realize an adaptive ergonomic workstation in which aspects of ergonomics, collaborative robotics, machine learning, physiological measurements of the operator converged in order to create a solution in which the system adapts to the operators’ needs, helping them in manual assembly activities, improving the performance, quality and well-being of the operators.

RESULTS

Through the project it was possible to create an island composed of two twin adaptive workstations, in which the system adapts to the characteristics of the environment and the operator.

In the stations:

  • the height of the work surface adapts to the anthropometric characteristics of the operator;
  • the light adapts according to the age of the operator, the task to be performed and the general lighting conditions.
  • there is a collaborative robot that helps the operator in assembly activities, by placing the components at an ergonomic height.

All components are controlled by a control unit that communicates with the software on the island’s PCs.
The system also regulates its speed based on the characteristics of the operator, through a specially developed algorithm.
A new zero gravity balancing system has been developed, as well as a user-friendly pick to light picking system.
